Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2012 Released, Localized Into 13 Languages

Comes With Extensive NTFS Repair Fully Integrated With Mac OS X

HELSINKI, FINLAND-- April 30, 2012 -- Tuxera Inc., the leading provider of interoperable file systems for Android, Linux, Mac and other platforms, today announced the release of Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2012. The installer and user interface have been localized to support twelve new languages including Arabic, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. Among many new features Tuxera NTFS for Mac now includes Tuxera's extensively developed NTFS verify and repair functionality fully integrated with Disk Utility. The release has been successfully tested and verified to work with Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Mac OS X Lion.

Tuxera NTFS for Mac allows Mac OS X users read and write to external hard drives, USB memory sticks and other portable storages formatted with Microsoft Windows. Tuxera's software is a key tool for users who migrate from Windows to Mac and need to retrieve important data from Windows backup storages. Tuxera NTFS for Mac is also a very popular tool for designers and digital imaging professionals who work with large files across PCs and Macs. FAT is not a suitable option for portable file system storage because it limits file sizes to 4GB, and cloud storages have well known performance, security and availability concerns. Tuxera NTFS for Mac has been designed to support the users need for interoperability across their devices.

"Tuxera is committed to provide all Mac users worldwide an easy-to-use, lightning fast tool to access their Windows formatted hard drives and other storages. Tuxera NTFS for Mac installer and preference panel is now translated and localized into 13 languages," said Oscar Santolalla, Product Manager at Tuxera. "Mac keeps on growing in popularity and we are answering to the demand. Tuxera will verify and confirm Tuxera NTFS for Mac fully supports the next major OS X version Mountain Lion as soon as it is released."

Lion is here!

Apple's awaited OS X Lion has been finally released. The delivery is what you can expect from Apple: tons of new features, both for improved user experience and under the hood performance. This is the first time you can upgrade your Mac directly through Mac App Store. According to the numbers:

Apple® today announced that in just one day, over one million users bought and downloaded Mac OS® X Lion, the eighth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system... users are buying Lion faster than any other OS release in Apple’s history.

Now that's just huge!

While the popularity of Mac is skyrocketing to new records, we're also seeing more and more people using multiple operating systems and not just one. Windows is not disappearing any time soon and remains the number one choice in many homes and workplaces alike. This means that Macs also need full, rock solid Windows interoperability. Many of those new to Mac bring with them Microsoft Windows formatted hard drives and may continue to use Windows still on the side. And the chances are high that as a Mac user you will need to exchange large amounts of data with friends and colleagues who stay on Windows.

This is where Tuxera NTFS for Mac comes to help. With complete support to OS X Lion, Tuxera NTFS for Mac adds full read and write compatibility with all Windows-formatted drives.

We are very proud to have been flooded by positive feedback on how Tuxera NTFS for Mac is working now smoothly on Mac OS X Lion. Thank you to every one of you!

For those of you who haven’t yet upgraded your system, we urge you to download and install the latest stable version 2011.4.1 which was released already on June 20th.

Last but not least I'd like to remind that once you buy a Tuxera NTFS for Mac license you will get future releases free of charge.

Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2011.4 Now Available

Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2011.4 Now Available
Improves Responsiveness for 64-bit Kernels and Supports Mac OS X Lion

HELSINKI, FINLAND – May 3, 2011 – Tuxera Inc., the leading provider of Windows-compatible file systems for Linux, Android, Mac and other platforms, today announced the availability of a new release of its widely adopted Tuxera NTFS for Mac. Among the numerous added enhancements, the new version includes automatic translation of filenames and important improvements in performance on 64-bit kernels. Tuxera NTFS for Mac also ensures full support to the next Mac OS X version 10.7 Lion expected to be released later in 2011.

New components of Mac OS X recently started to encode file attributes in a way that Windows Explorer was not able to access. Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2011.4 brings in automatic translation of filenames, removing any problem when copying files to NTFS volumes. Additionally, this release ensures improved responsiveness when using multiple simultaneous NTFS volumes on 64-bit Mac OS X kernels.

Tuxera NTFS for Mac allows Apple Mac OS X users to read and write in Windows NTFS format fuss-free. Transferring files from Windows to Mac and vice versa is made easy with the help of Tuxera software as the common Windows-formatted hard drives and memory sticks can be used. Tuxera NTFS for Mac is also very popular in companies and universities with heterogeneous computing environments that include both Windows and Mac computers.

¨We are pleased to announce the awaited new Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2011.4 release that makes Mac-Windows interoperability easier and more productive” says Oscar Santolalla, Product Manager at Tuxera. ¨Tuxera is fully committed to provide Mac users with the best file system interoperability experience. Release: Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2011.4

We are now announcing the release of Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2011.4.

The new release contains numerous enhancements. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Automatic translation of filenames that would be invalid in Windows into a compatible form, leading to less problems when copying files to NTFS volumes (can be turned off in preferences).
  • Improved responsiveness when using multiple simultaneous NTFS volumes on 64-bit kernels.
  • The ability to turn off native storage of extended attributes, introduced in version 2010.7 (to improve compatibility with NTFS-3G and older versions of Mac OS X's internal NTFS driver).
  • Bugfix for formatting hard disks with 4 KiB sector size. The previous version produced NTFS volumes that could not be used successfully in Windows.
  • Bugfixes/tuning of native extended attribute handling. Some applications (e.g. Adobe Photoshop) could misbehave with the previous stable version.
  • Bugfix for saving files from Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Bugfix for free disk space handling. The amount of free disk space being displayed in Finder was not kept up-to-date in some situations.

Updates are free for all existing customers, so we urge everyone to update to the latest version.

Release Candidate: Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2010.12-RC

The latest release candidate of Tuxera NTFS for Mac is out.
The newest release candidate contains bugfixes and a some new features.

Highlights:

  • Automatic filename translation of characters that Windows Explorer considers illegal. File names and attribute names can now safely contain characters such as ':' and '\' as they are translated to the private Unicode range according to the scheme used in Services for Mac. (This proved to be an immediate problem as some Mac OS X component has started to set attributes like "com.apple.metadata:kMDItemWhereFroms" which resulted in the files being inaccessible in Windows Explorer.)
  • Improved performance with multiple filesystems under the 64-bit Snow Leopard kernel.
  • Bugfix: Free space updates was not picked up by Finder at all times (Snow Leopard).
  • More efficient aligned I/O, now built into the caching layer. This should improve performance in some situations.
  • Bugfix for resource fork handling. This bug resulted in problems with some applications, e.g. Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Please send an email to our dedicated support email address describing any issues that you might have. Thank you.

Tuxera Celebrates Over 1 Million NTFS for Mac Downloads
The World's First and Fastest NTFS for Mac Solution Defines the Standard

HELSINKI, FINLAND. Tuxera Ltd, the creator of the leading NTFS end exFAT file system drivers, celebrates the fact that its NTFS for Mac technology has exceeded 1 million downloads. Tuxera NTFS for Mac continues to define the gold standard for file system interoperability between Mac and Windows computers. The product has won awards for its extreme performance and flawless operation.

Tuxera leads the NTFS-3G open source project, which made a breakthrough in January 2007 being the first in the world to release NTFS read/write support on Mac OS X. Since then Tuxera has continued to innovate its market-leading technology. The high-performance Tuxera NTFS for Mac remains today as the world's fastest NTFS for Mac solution. Read and write speeds have reached 100MB/s, and in practice the speed is usually limited only by the hardware.

"Make no mistake: we were the first on Mac, and remain the first both in stability and performance. We also do not charge for any performance and feature updates, which we frequently publish during the year. Our license is forever." noted Mikko Välimäki, Tuxera CEO.

Tuxera NTFS for Mac is quickly becoming a must-have for consumers who migrate from Windows to Mac, and wish to fully use their Windows-formatted hard drives and memory sticks from the new system. Tuxera has also sold volume licenses to universities and media production companies, which have mixed Windows and Mac environments with tens or hundreds of computers.

Tuxera NTFS for Mac gets more reviews

Following the latest release, Tuxera NTFS for Mac is receiving positive reviews all over the net. For example movie and television industry veteran David Roth Weiss has in mind a use case where large movie files are post-produced on a Mac and then submitted to clients who have PCs:

Until Tuxera, the 4Gb file size limitation made it impossible to copy files over 4Gb to a FAT32 formatted drive, and NTFS formatted drives could only be read on Macs, writing to them was not possible. ... that could be a real deal breaker for many editors on Macs. Tuxera changes all that, and creates a seamless method for delivering files on hard drives to your PC-based clients.

Earlier also MacObserver picked Tuxera as the NTFS solution for Mac.

As a final note, Softpedia gave us "100% CLEAN" award :)
